Detail-She Hears the Temple Bells

Detail--She Hears the Temple Bells

A few weeks ago, I painted "She Hears the Temple Bells". The painting invokes the Tibetan temple bells I keep in my Angel room, where I meditate each morning.

I bought the bells the evening I first saw the Dalai Lama at my alma mater, the University of California in Irvine. That weekend, His Holiness was informed of his winning the Nobel Peace Prize. The event was informal, as I recall. My friend, Mary, walked right up to the stage and shook the Dalai Lama's hand. He was gracious, luminous in red and gold.

The painting is acrylic, 24" x 30". My favorite part of the painting is her mouth, which seems to whisper a loving message to whomever cares to hear. Do you hear a message meant just for you?

I see what I seek
finding love
with every breath.

  1. When I see you lady, I am immediately reminded of a woman who came to me who said that she loved her job but didn’t know what her purpose was. She had the most perfect carefully lipsticked Marilyn Monroe lips and I knew immediately that she was right on her purpose in her life. It turns out that she is, in fact, a beauty expert who does makeovers for women in the cosmetic section of high-end department stores all over the country. While she is making over the women she always talks to them about their life. Maybe they were sad or unresolved about some area of their life when they arrived but when they leave, they leave transformed. All are beautiful and uplifted by her. Of course she’s right on purpose - She kisses lives with her Marilyn Monroe lips.

    1. Beautiful story, Viki! It reminds us that our purpose can be grand or intimate, yet of equal value to the world. Blessings!
